Calculation of Gruha Jyothi Electricity Consumption
- To calculate the Electricity Consumption for Gruha Jyothi scheme applicant must collect all his electricity bills from the previous financial year that is, 1st April 2022 to 31st March 23. These previous electricity bills are required to determine the applicant’s average electricity consumption.
- After collecting all the 12 electricity bills for the previous year the applicant must write down the consumption of the electricity unit on a single piece of paper. The applicant can now add up all the electricity units that the applicant consumes.
- Once the applicant has added up all the units of electricity that are consumed by the applicant from the previous year, the applicant must divide the sum by 12 to find out the average consumption of the previous financial year.
- According to the Government of Karnataka the applicant must add 10% more to the total average of the previous financial year. For example, if the average consumption of the previous financial year is 100 units the applicant must add 10% more making it a total of 110 units.
- Now after doing all these processes if your electricity unit consumption is less than 200 units, you are eligible for the Gurha Jyothi scheme. If the average consumption of the applicant exceeds 200 units he is not eligible for the scheme.
- Now to get a free electricity bill the applicant must get their electricity bill lower or equal then the previous year’s average. for example, if the previous year’s average of the applicant is 150 units then he should only use 150 units or less to get a zero electricity bill.
- If the applicant’s electricity unit consumption exceeds his average consumption of the previous year then he will have to pay for the extra units he has consumed.
